Difficult Payment and Policy Reality
This big-picture view of healthcare’s cost issue, and oncology’s piece of the pie, set the stage for AMCCBS.
Our payment system is broken and unsustainable; on that point, there is little debate. Even at a time of partisan rancor, 我们已经看到两党承诺解决医疗保健费用(特别是药品费用)问题, where oncology has become the problematic poster child).
In the face of potential government mandates, 提供者社区必须帮助驱动明智的策略, meaningful, and realistic.
Sustaining Options for Community Oncology Practices
As traditional practice models in oncology are upended, More so than in the past,
Interestingly enough, 虽然从商业角度来看,实践管理公司可能会提供一个安全的避风港, they are not simply looking to maintain the status quo.
Digital Health Revolution
Digital health was another hot topic, 代表着包括移动医疗等技术在内的广阔且不断增长的空间, telehealth, personalized medicine, devices/wearables/sensors, and digital therapeutics (e.g.、人工智能辅助图像分析、crispr工程CAR - t细胞治疗). Many barriers still exist (e.g., lack of portable and transparent data),
Patients as Consumers
供应商之间围绕支付改革的积极讨论, care transformation, and business model strategies is all necessary, 因为像Haven这样的公司将继续推动医疗保健领域的重大变革. Oncology providers need to have strong strategies in place around their patients’ most desired attributes: a seamlessly coordinated care experience; treatment options that are affordable and personalized; and data that is easily movable and integrated.
Leading the Conversation
如果有一个信息在整个政策变化的讨论中引起共鸣, emerging business models, digital health, and evolving patient expectations, it was that the future of healthcare is being charted today. But who is charting that course?
